Harengus S.A. fish meal plant is located in the Puerto Madryn city, operating on a covered surface of 300 m2. It is equipped with a boiler for steam generation, as well as a laboratory for quality control, sanitary services and dressing rooms.
As the fish meal processing operation is automatized, the plant works 24 hours a day with a staff of just 4 people. But, how is the process developed in our plant?
The waste of the fish produced during the refrigerating process is disposed in hoppers which feed continually the cooking equipment. From there, it goes to the press and afterwards to the continuous drying unit.
Later on, the material passes though a hammer mill, reaching the required granulometry. Finally, it is pushed by an air stream falling into a vertical hopper, from where it is packaged in 45 kg units. Fractions that way, the fish meal is stored in a explosionproof deposit until its commercialisation.
